Judging Criteria

For 1-5 categories:

  • Visual Design - Visual design is the appearance of the game. It’s more than just aesthetic, and it doesn’t have to be cutting edge or trendy. Good visual design is high quality, appropriate, and relevant for the audience and the game play it is supporting. It communicates a visual experience and may even take your breath away
  • Functionality - Functionality is the use of technology within the game. Good functionality means the game works well. It loads quickly and any new technology used is functional and relevant to the game play. Highly functional games anticipate the diversity of user requirements from file size and format to download speed. A good functionality makes the experience center stage and the technology invisible.
  • Innovation - Innovative games push the boundaries of what’s been done before. When considering Innovation, examine whether the idea is new, or merely iterating on a previous idea. Is the work fundamentally different from existing games or executions? Does the technology work? Does the innovation alter the way technology is developed and utilized in the future?
  • Craft Quality - Determining the quality of craft focuses on the game making process and technical execution. This includes the appearance, functionality, and sound design, and all the aspects that account for a memorable playing experience.
  • Overall Experience- Demonstrating that a Game can be more or less than the sum of its parts, the overall experience encompasses concept & writing, execution, quality of craft, as well as the intangibles that provoke player response.

For 6th category:

  • Innovation - Innovative games push the boundaries of what's been done before. When considering Innovation, examine whether the idea is new,
or merely iterating on a previous idea. Is the work fundamentally different from existing games or executions? Does the technology work? Does the innovation alter the way technology is developed and utilized in the future?
  • Reach - The creation of great viral game demands that it spreads far and wide. Consider the number of games produced, its reach, downloads, number of versions, achievements and recognitions etc.
  • Caliber of games - Demonstrating that a Game can be more or less than the sum of its parts, the overall experience encompasses concept & writing, visual design, functionality, execution, quality of craft, as well as the intangibles that provoke player response for the games.
  • Valuation based on fund raised-The amount of cash injection indicates the potential of a company to grow. Showcase the valuation of your company based on your fund raised from investors and highlight the key areas of improvement and growth which the company is eying in the next 3 years.

For 7th & 8th categories:

    • Maintain a Vast Network - Jury shall focus on how expansive and well varied the network(s) is maintained to reach out to new audiences through a variety of publishers.
    • Implementation - For many companies it can be difficult or cost prohibitive to spend too much time implementing custom code into their platforms. The vendors should ensure that service offered are able to assist their clients in handling the implementation while also ensuring the implementation is being done to the best of their ability in order to match to the most recommended practices.
    • Monitoring & Reporting - Monitoring is important to make sure the clients are being given the best opportunity to get their products and services out to interested parties. And both publishers and client require timely and accurate reports to ensure that the performance is as forecasted. Jury should evaluate if the information provided to each party should be relevant to their concerns and interests.
    • Optimization - One of the most important aspects in comparison to building client’s relationships on one’s own is the amount of optimization and guidance the vendor companies provides. Jury will judge on the basis of the set standards and guidance provided by each of the vendors to ensure that publishers are able to best represent their clients to their audience for the benefit of the clients in the network.
